Pink Head Noodle Bar, Saluhallen

Pink Head Noodle Bar offers hand-crafted dishes with influences from Japan, China & Korea, lovingly made with local produce mixed with the excitement of Asian flavours. 

The design had to reflect this in keeping with the simplicity of traditional Japanese noodle bars.

A concept was conceived together with the owner/chef, for the space in the new development Malmö Saluhall, (food hall) in the centre of town.

Timber and metal were chosen as primary materials, with the timber stained in a warm grey colour. Sheets of expanded metal were layered horizontally under the bar counter for a ‘fish scale’ effect. 

Glass cabinets designed into the bar were filled with Chinese Maneko Neki (luck-bringing waving cats). A metal shelving system with wooden boxes was custom designed to hang from Saluhallen’s characteristic black l-beams. The sombre colours of the timber and metal were matched with brass custom feature lighting.
